THE IGNITION STORY
Ignition Car Centre is an impressive culmination of almost 150 years of combined automotive experience between Directors, Martin Roller, Marvin Burke and Anthony Alafaci.
The Team are synonymous with the Brisbane prestigious car market, with their dealerships over the years featuring brands including BMW, Mini, Volvo, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Ferrari.
After departing Brisbane BMW in 2019, The Team took a short hiatus before sensing an opportunity in the high-growth RV industry and taking their automotive experience to establish Caravana, a Redcliffe-based caravan dealership that also sold prestigious used cars. It made sense, given Martin and Marvin’s experience and the synergies between cars and caravans.
Fast forward and after selling over 1,000 caravans and exceeding all expectations, space became an issue at Caravana’s Redcliffe dealership and it was time for the car division to find a new home.
Always on the lookout for the next business opportunity, The Team commenced discussions to become the Brisbane agent for INEOS Grenadier, an all-new built for purpose 4x4 owned by English billionaire, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Again, this was a logical step given The Team’s background and it complimented the existing prestigious used car division and the caravan business.
From the ensuing appointment, Ignition Car Centre would become the Brisbane home of the INEOS Grenadier, the current premises were sourced and were indeed a perfect match; easy access from the south and north, close proximity to the CBD, a unique industrial/warehouse style that compliments the INEOS brand and of course, sufficient space for the service division which is to be headed up by experienced BMW technician, Darren Shaw and Ashlee Tomkins. The team are assisted by our Service Advisor, Jordon Thomas.
With such growth across the business, Martin and Marvin saw the opportunity to invite another former colleague, Anthony Alafaci to form a new leadership group across the organisation in late 2022. Anthony’s technical and operational background perfectly complements that of Martin (sales and marketing), Marvin (accounting and finance).
